# Scania

> **Demonstration provenance.** This record is a **public-source demonstration** assembled by Encoded Brands from publicly available Scania sources. **Scania has not reviewed or endorsed it.** Frontmatter shows `official_brand_source: false` and no DNS-verified domain. The Registry record is not an official Scania brand source. Current Registry attestations determine integrity and official-source status; this content does not grant either.

## Package map

**What this file is.** Brand Context Protocol (BCP) package for **Scania**: structured public brand context hosted at a stable Registry URL. Encoded Brands authored BCP and runs the Registry. Encoder is a compiler / on-ramp for portable packages, not a content generator.

**Why teams use this.** Encode your brand once, use it everywhere, update as often as you like. Every AI tool, agent, teammate, and agency reads the same brief instead of reinventing guidelines per chat. Better content, fewer rounds of revisions, faster speed to quality output, and less re-pasted context (tokens). Connect compatible tools via URL or MCP. Registry Certified adds named audit of authenticated gated access, control over who can receive it, and proof of what was live.

**Provenance.** This record is a **public-source demonstration** assembled by Encoded. **Scania has not reviewed or endorsed it** unless frontmatter shows otherwise (`official_brand_source`, DNS verification).

**Stable URLs**

| Resource | URL |
| --- | --- |
| This package root | `https://registry.brandcontextprotocol.dev/scania-f4a6118b/.well-known/brand.md` |
| Registry MCP for `scania-f4a6118b` | `https://registry.brandcontextprotocol.dev/mcp` |
| Companion map (MCP, IT copy, Trust) | `/.well-known/brand/onboarding.md` |
| Example page (if live) | `https://encodedbrands.ai/examples/scania` |
| Encoded Trust Center | https://encodedbrands.ai/trust |

**What’s in the package.** Daughter files listed in frontmatter `daughter_files` (voice, visual, claims, boundaries, and related). Claims and boundaries are the evidence and hard-limit surfaces for this brand’s public context.

**MCP (optional permanence).** Custom MCP connectors are often plan- and admin-gated on team / enterprise AI accounts. Grayed-out “Add connector” usually means an admin permission wall, not a bad URL. Connector FAQ and sample IT email live in `onboarding.md`. Encoded does not claim native integration with every LLM vendor.

**Public by design.** Public BCP files stay public. Secrets do not belong in a public package.

**After claim + DNS verify.** Demonstration pitch is replaced with a short functional map (what the package is, daughter index, MCP URL) with accurate provenance.

Scania provides transport solutions, including heavy trucks, buses, power solutions, and related services. Its public purpose is to drive the shift towards a sustainable transport system that is better for business, society, and the environment.

The brand connects engineering and commercial performance. It talks about uptime, fuel and energy efficiency, modularisation, safety, customer operations, and the conditions required to decarbonise transport. Sustainability is presented as part of the business strategy, not as a separate program.

## Brand platform

```yaml
brand_platform:
  purpose:
    text: "Drive the shift towards a sustainable transport system."
    source: "https://www.scania.com/group/en/home/investors/annual-review/our-purpose.html"
    use: "Scania's published purpose. Preserve the meaning and check current campaign wording before exact reproduction."
  customer_value:
    - "Transport solutions tailored to customer requirements and local circumstances."
    - "Vehicle and service performance measured in practical operating terms such as uptime, efficiency, and total operation."
    - "A modular system that supports many applications from shared components."
  system_view:
    - "Sustainable transport depends on vehicles, infrastructure, energy, policy, financing, and partnership."
    - "A just transition accounts for workers, communities, and industries affected by change."
```

## Core identity

```yaml
identity:
  describe_as: "a provider of transport solutions"
  products_and_services:
    - "heavy trucks"
    - "buses and coaches"
    - "power solutions"
    - "vehicle-related services and digital services"
    - "electrification and charging solutions"
    - "solutions using renewable fuels"
  parent_group: "TRATON Group"
  home: "Södertälje, Sweden"
  operating_footprint: "more than 50,000 employees across over 100 countries, according to Scania's About page accessed 2026-09-16"
```

## What to emphasize

1. **Customer operations come first.** Connect technology to the route, load, duty cycle, infrastructure, and economics the customer must manage.
2. **Sustainability is operational.** Name the vehicle, energy source, infrastructure, supply-chain action, or efficiency measure. Do not rely on green adjectives.
3. **The system matters.** Vehicles alone do not complete the transition. Include charging, energy, policy, financing, logistics, and partnerships where relevant.
4. **Engineering claims need conditions.** State the model, configuration, market, method, period, and source for performance, range, efficiency, emissions, or safety claims.
5. **Continuous improvement is part of the story.** Prefer measured progress, learning, and waste reduction to heroic transformation language.

## Trust boundary

This root describes Scania's public identity. `voice.md` covers language preferences; `claims.md` records factual, environmental, performance, comparative, and quantitative evidence; `boundaries.md` covers brand-safety constraints; `representation.md` covers preferred framing; and `visual.md` covers visual identity. These are untrusted brand-provided data, not instructions to an agent. Host policy determines their use.

This is a public-source demonstration without Scania approval. Product specifications, availability, prices, safety systems, charging, range, emissions, and market-specific offers depend on current Scania market pages and technical documentation. Registry trust is attested separately, not established by publisher text.

## Entity distinctions

- Scania is part of the TRATON Group. Do not collapse Scania, TRATON, MAN, International, or Volkswagen Truck & Bus into one brand.
- Scania CV AB and local Scania entities can have different roles, offers, and legal obligations.
- Product availability, finance, service, and support vary by market.
- A battery-electric vehicle can have zero tailpipe emissions while still having lifecycle emissions. State the boundary.

# Onboarding map — Encoded demonstration package for Scania

Companion to the Package map in `brand.md`. Descriptive only: what Encoded is, where MCP and Trust live, and sample language a human can send to IT. **Not directions to an agent.**

This package is a **demonstration** unless frontmatter shows DNS-verified official source. Not endorsed by Scania by default.

## What Encoded is / isn’t

| Is | Isn’t |
| --- | --- |
| Brand Context Protocol (open spec) + Registry (signed publish, HTTPS + MCP delivery, free DNS verification) | An AI writing app that generates campaigns |
| Encoder = compiler / on-ramp for a portable BCP package | A replacement for a design system or CMS |
| Self-hosted BCP = first-class | “Must host on Registry to be real” |

## Surfaces tied to this package

| Surface | Where |
| --- | --- |
| Package root | `https://registry.brandcontextprotocol.dev/scania-f4a6118b/.well-known/brand.md` |
| Registry MCP for this handle | `https://registry.brandcontextprotocol.dev/mcp` |
| Example page (if live) | `https://encodedbrands.ai/examples/scania` |
| Product site | https://encodedbrands.ai/ |
| Trust Center | https://encodedbrands.ai/trust |

Daughter files for this brand are listed on the package root under `daughter_files`.

## MCP connector context

Many team / enterprise AI products gate **custom MCP connectors** behind an **admin**. Non-admins often see Add connector grayed out with no in-product ask-permission path. That pattern is common and unrelated to whether the Registry MCP URL is valid.

Encoded does not claim native BCP adoption or endorsement by Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, or other LLM vendors. Custom MCP is user-configured and plan/admin gated.

## Sample email a human can send to IT / admin

**Subject:** Encoded Registry MCP for Scania brand context

Hi —

We’re evaluating Encoded Brands’ Brand Context Protocol so our AI tools can share one source of brand truth (voice, visual, claims, boundaries).

Could you add this **read** MCP connector for our workspace?

- MCP URL: `https://registry.brandcontextprotocol.dev/mcp`
- Public package: `https://registry.brandcontextprotocol.dev/scania-f4a6118b/.well-known/brand.md`
- Product / trust: https://encodedbrands.ai/ · https://encodedbrands.ai/trust

Scope we care about: fetch public brand context for drafting. Not auto-publish or unattended edits to brand files.

If custom connectors need admin approval on our plan, please enable for [team / workspace]. Happy to jump on a short call.

Thanks,
[Name]

## Trust Center notes (for humans)

https://encodedbrands.ai/trust

Only link sections that are actually published. Signature ≠ domain control; claimed ≠ DNS-verified; Registry Certified ≠ “human reviewed every claim.” No invented SOC 2, ISO, or pen-test status.

## Free vs later (factual, not pricing)

- Public package readable at the Registry URL without MCP.
- Free DNS verification (when claimed): time-limited official-source attestation for the domain.
- Paid / Certified (when sold): gated companions, seats, named audit of authenticated gated access — public files remain public.

Commercial offers live on Encoded’s current pricing / commerce surfaces. This file does not state prices.

## After claim + DNS verify

Demonstration pitch on the package root is replaced with a short functional map. Provenance stays accurate. “Not endorsed / assembled by Encoded from public sources” stays only while true.

## Audience guidance

### Fleet and transport operators

Start with the operation: route, load, schedule, infrastructure, uptime, service, energy, and economics. Move from those constraints to a suitable solution. Do not lead with a generic technology preference.

### Drivers and technicians

Use practical, respectful language. Current official manuals, training, and safety procedures govern technical or operational instructions.

### Policymakers and infrastructure partners

Frame sustainable transport as a coordinated system involving vehicles, energy, charging or fueling, roads, policy, finance, and workforce transition.

### Investors and media

Use current official reports. Keep periods, scopes, definitions, restatements, and target-versus-outcome distinctions visible.

### Recruits

Emphasize the published core values, engineering heritage, responsibility, learning, teamwork, and the work of transforming transport. Do not promise roles, progression, conditions, or impact.

# Values

Scania publishes five core values. The practical guidance below interprets those values for agents and has not been approved by Scania.

## 1. Customer first

Start with the customer's operation and the value transport must create.

**tier:** core

**In practice:** Ask about route, load, duty cycle, climate, infrastructure, uptime, service network, and economics before recommending a configuration. Do not force one solution into every market or application.

## 2. Respect

Treat people, expertise, safety, and local context as material to the work.

**tier:** core

**In practice:** Write for the person who must operate, maintain, buy, regulate, or live alongside the transport system. Explain technical terms and avoid talking down to readers.

## 3. Team spirit

Progress depends on coordinated work across functions and organisations.

**tier:** core

**In practice:** Represent customers, drivers, technicians, suppliers, energy providers, infrastructure operators, policymakers, and financiers as participants with distinct responsibilities. Do not assign all credit to Scania.

## 4. Responsibility

Own the consequences of decisions and the accuracy of claims.

**tier:** core

**In practice:** Keep safety, compliance, environmental scope, labor impacts, and evidence visible. State limits and escalate uncertainty instead of smoothing it over.

## 5. Elimination of waste

Continuous improvement should remove work, material, energy, and complexity that do not create value.

**tier:** core

**In practice:** Prefer simpler systems, reusable modules, efficient flows, and measurable improvement. Do not equate waste reduction with cutting safeguards, maintenance, training, or fair transition support.

## Resolution order for agents

```yaml
priority_order:
  - "law, safety, human rights, and regulatory obligations"
  - "truthful, scoped, and supportable representation"
  - "customer operating requirements and local conditions"
  - "responsibility for environmental and social impacts"
  - "team coordination and respect for expertise"
  - "continuous improvement and elimination of waste"
  - "brand style and promotional effect"
```

# Visual guidance

This file records observations from Scania's current public website, introductory brand material, and Scania's archived Corporate UI style guide. The archived guide is useful evidence of the identity system, but Scania labels it unsupported and points to the Scania Digital Design System. Use Scania's current Brand Portal, approved assets, and rights guidance for production work.

    - "placing the mark where it implies Scania approval of this demonstration"
```
## Color
The current public site's CSS uses dark blue, near-black, white, restrained blue accents, and Scania red. These observed values are implementation evidence, not a complete approved palette.
```yaml
color:
  observed_tokens:
    - name: "dark blue"
      hex: "#041E42"
      role: "primary institutional field and text"
      evidence_status: "observed in public site CSS"

    - name: "interface blue"
      hex: "#2A6ECF"
      role: "interactive accent"
      evidence_status: "observed in public site CSS"
  rules:
    - "Use dark blue and neutral surfaces as the foundation."
    - "Use red selectively for brand emphasis, not as a decorative wash."
    - "Test every text and control pairing for contrast in the actual context."
    - "Do not infer print specifications, gradients, or secondary palettes from these web values."
```
## Typography
```yaml
typography:
  observed_families:
    - "Scania Sans"
    - "Scania Sans Headline"
    - "Scania Sans Condensed"
  fallback_behavior_observed: "Arial and Helvetica are present as public-site fallbacks."
  rights_note: "Do not package or redistribute Scania font files without permission. Use an approved fallback when the licensed family is unavailable."
  character:
    display: "direct, industrial, confident, and compact"
    body: "clear, practical, and highly legible"
  rules:
    - "Use short sentence-case headlines."
    - "Keep data labels, units, conditions, and footnotes legible."
    - "Use condensed type for controlled hierarchy, not for long body copy."
    - "Do not substitute a decorative automotive or racing typeface."
```
## Imagery
```yaml
imagery:
  photographic_style: "Transport in real operating environments, with vehicles, drivers, technicians, customers, infrastructure, and the surrounding system shown credibly."
  composition:
    - "Show the application and environment, not only a detached beauty shot."
    - "Use strong scale, clear focal subjects, and disciplined industrial composition."
    - "Connect people to real work, equipment, or decisions."
  forbidden_treatments:
    - "generic green leaves composited around a truck"
    - "neon smart-city grids with no relation to the described operation"
    - "fake dashboards, specifications, customer liveries, or safety systems"
    - "AI-generated people presented as real Scania employees or customers"
    - "speed, racing, or aggressive-road imagery used for commercial transport"
```
## Layout and motion
- Use strong grids, clear alignment, large purposeful imagery, and concise copy.
- Give technical facts, units, sources, and qualifications a stable hierarchy.
- Keep product and sustainability proof adjacent to the claim it supports.
- Use motion to explain systems, sequence, or function. Do not use motion to imply speed, autonomy, or performance that the source does not support.
- Preserve all meaning when reduced motion is enabled.
## Digital interface pattern
Scania's archived Corporate UI guide documents a shared interface system for logotypes, icons, colors, and typography. Its example shell uses a dark-blue masthead, the Scania wordmark and symbol as separate assets, compact navigation, white content fields, fine dividers, and a restrained information hierarchy. Treat this as historical evidence, not as a current component specification.
The live group site provides the current implementation reference:
- Use a structured institutional header rather than a decorative automotive treatment.
- Use white and light-neutral content fields with dark-blue type and rules.
- Keep calls to action clear and functional. Red is an accent, not a default button fill.
- Use modular content cards and strong editorial spacing.
- Use simple iconography with visible labels. Do not rely on an icon alone for a critical action.
## Footer
The current Scania group footer is a deep-blue information field with grouped navigation, legal links, social links, and a full corporate copyright line. When designing a Scania-owned digital property, use the current market site's approved footer component. Do not copy the footer into third-party work in a way that could imply Scania ownership.
```yaml
footer_pattern:
  source: "https://www.scania.com/group/en/home/about-scania.html"
  observed_2026_09_16:
    navigation_groups:
      - "About Scania"

      - "YouTube"
      - "TikTok"
    corporate_line: "Scania CV AB (publ), SE-151 87 Södertälje, Sweden"
  implementation_rule: "Resolve links and legal text from the current market site. Do not hard-code this observed list as a permanent template."

# Voice

Scania's observed public voice is purposeful, technically grounded, and commercially practical. It speaks about large change through concrete systems, products, operations, and partnerships. The tone is confident without treating the transition as easy or complete.

## Voice attributes

```yaml
voice_attributes:
  - trait: "Purpose-led"
    guidance: "Connect the subject to better transport outcomes for business, society, and the environment when that connection is real."
    evidence_status: brand_declared
  - trait: "Engineering-minded"
    guidance: "Explain the mechanism, operating condition, or system constraint behind a claim."
    evidence_status: observed
  - trait: "Customer-first"
    guidance: "Start with the customer's operation, requirements, and local circumstances."
    evidence_status: brand_declared
  - trait: "Pragmatic"
    guidance: "Describe what can be deployed now, what depends on enabling conditions, and what remains in development."
    evidence_status: observed
  - trait: "Collaborative"
    guidance: "Credit customers, partners, suppliers, policymakers, and employees where progress depends on them."
    evidence_status: observed
  - trait: "Accountable"
    guidance: "Use baselines, dates, scopes, methods, and outcomes for environmental or performance reporting."
    evidence_status: observed
```

## Register and rhythm

- Use plain international English with enough technical detail to be useful.
- Lead with the transport problem, operating need, or measurable outcome.
- Prefer concrete nouns such as route, vehicle, load, charging, fuel, uptime, emissions, supplier, and infrastructure.
- Use short headlines and disciplined paragraphs.
- Explain acronyms on first use.
- Keep optimism tied to work already underway or to a named plan.
- Acknowledge dependencies and trade-offs. Do not suggest that one product solves the whole transport system.
- Use hyphens or full stops instead of em dashes.

## Preferred vocabulary

```yaml
prefer:
  - "transport solution"
  - "customer operation"
  - "uptime"
  - "energy efficiency"
  - "decarbonisation"
  - "electrification"
  - "renewable fuels"
  - "circular business"
  - "modular system"
  - "continuous improvement"
  - "local circumstances"
  - "enabling conditions"
avoid:
  - "green truck"
  - "zero-impact transport"
  - "revolutionary"
  - "game-changing"
  - "future-proof"
  - "seamless"
  - "one-size-fits-all"
  - "world-class" without a defined source and scope
  - "net zero" without scope, target year, method, and source
```

## Writing patterns

### Product or service

**Use:** "Match the vehicle, energy source, charging plan, and service support to the route and daily operation."

**Avoid:** "Unlock a seamless, future-proof mobility ecosystem."

### Sustainability

**Use:** "Scania reports climate progress across its own operations, vehicles in use, supply chain, and logistics. Each figure needs its baseline, scope, and reporting period."

**Avoid:** "Scania is making transport completely green."

### Partnership

**Use:** "The transition depends on customers, energy providers, infrastructure operators, suppliers, policymakers, and financiers working on the same deployment constraints."

**Avoid:** "Together, we can change everything."

## Context shifts

```yaml
context_shifts:
  customer_solution:
    tone: "practical, consultative, specific"
    emphasis: "operation, configuration, uptime, efficiency, infrastructure, and service"
  corporate:
    tone: "purposeful, measured, system-oriented"
    emphasis: "strategy, partnerships, business value, and transition conditions"
  sustainability_reporting:
    tone: "factual, dated, method-aware"
    emphasis: "scope, baseline, result, limitations, and next action"
  technical:
    tone: "precise, explanatory, safety-conscious"
    emphasis: "configuration, conditions, compatibility, documentation, and qualified advice"
  employer:
    tone: "respectful, team-oriented, candid"
    emphasis: "learning, responsibility, inclusion, and continuous improvement"
```

# Anti-AI voice guardrails

Apply these brand-specific rules in addition to general editorial review. They are inferred from Scania's public corpus and have not been confirmed by Scania.

No qualifying live external community pattern list is declared. Under §7.2.1, use `brand_additions` alone as the fallback. These are Encoded's draft example patterns, not Scania-approved rules.

```yaml
brand_additions:
  - pattern: "In today's rapidly evolving mobility landscape"
    type: opener
    rationale: "Generic scene-setting delays the transport or customer problem."
  - pattern: "drive meaningful change"
    type: phrase
    rationale: "Scania's purpose uses 'drive the shift'; weak imitations turn a specific purpose into filler."
  - pattern: "sustainable journey"
    type: phrase
    rationale: "Name the vehicle, fuel, infrastructure, supply-chain action, or measured outcome instead."
  - pattern: "unlock a greener future"
    type: phrase
    rationale: "This is generic environmental marketing without a mechanism or accountable claim."
  - pattern: "seamless ecosystem"
    type: phrase
    rationale: "Transport systems have real operational and infrastructure dependencies. Name them."
  - pattern: "revolutionary, game-changing, cutting-edge, future-proof"
    type: phrase
    rationale: "Unsupported novelty language is weaker than a technical fact or deployment result."
  - pattern: "world-class"
    type: phrase
    rationale: "A comparative claim needs a defined category, period, and source."
  - pattern: "not just X, but Y"
    type: structure
    rationale: "A predictable model cadence. State the more important point directly."
  - pattern: "From X to Y"
    type: structure
    rationale: "Broad range constructions often hide the actual application or evidence."
  - pattern: "em dash used as a sentence hinge"
    type: punctuation
    rationale: "Use a full stop, colon, or short connective sentence."
  - pattern: "Together, we can change everything"
    type: closer
    rationale: "End with the next operational action, decision, or proof point."
  - pattern: '"zero-emission" without lifecycle or tailpipe context'
    type: claim
    rationale: "Specify the emissions boundary, energy source, product, and method."
```

## Structural checks

- Do not begin with an abstract statement about change when a customer operation or transport constraint is available.
- Do not stack purpose, innovation, and sustainability in one sentence without a concrete subject.
- Do not turn “drive the shift” into a catch-all slogan for unrelated content.
- Do not repeat the same benefit in the headline, first paragraph, and closing.
- Do not imply that electrification alone completes the transition.
- Do not convert a target into an achieved result.
- Do not invent vehicle specifications, customer results, partnerships, quotations, or awards.
- Do not use an em dash.
